An American basketball player in Iran

Okay, call me a softy, but this story almost choked me up! It is about an American basketball player who has taken his trade to Iran. He plays for Saba Battery Football Club’s basketball team.

For those of you who may not know, there are about 15 or so American Basketball players playing in the Iranian Basketball league.

We also had two former Team Melli players who played for MLS teams, Mohammad Khakpour who played for NY/NJ Metro Stars and Khodadad Azizi who played for San Jose Earth Quakes.

“People are people; and basketball people in America and Iran are the same,” says Mr. Pitts, who is from Seguin, Texas.

Back to getting choked up! The reason for me getting choked up is that living in the US, everyday I am reminded that if politicians leave average folks like you and me alone, we will all find a way to get along. I know, because I wouldn’t have made it home here if that wasn’t so.
