Does Team Melli have a German advantage?
Does Team Melli have an advantage because a few of its members have or are playing in German Bundesliga? Probably yes, but personally I would not count on it too much when they take the field against Mexico in their first game. Here is an article that ponders the question.

I think this advantage is overrated! I only hope the German based palyers get enough chance to practice with the team since they have joined late!

Kia,
I agree with you. The only advantage is that they will have an easy time finding their way from the locker room to the pitch!
It is over rated.

But, playing in Germany, I think is an advantage for Team Melli (compared to lets say Korea). That is because of great number of Iranians who live there and would show up to cheer the team. And that’s aside form the ones that would travel from Iran and other parts of Europe (which makes proximity another advantage on its own). I think Iran would have the feeling of “home advantage” in this sense.

I don’t think of it as an advantage over other teams as much as a plus for the team with regard to the experience gained in Germany. Very good article and you get a sense that the team is working well together and approaching the WC with little trepidation.

I think it is only an advantage when compared to previous versions of Team Melli. Those guys had less exposure to European football settings, hence the “disadvantage”.
The current TM has by far had most exposure because many have or are playing abroad.

I think team melli will be having an advantage playing in Germany this world cup for 2 reasons:-
1-The fact that 4 of it’s leagionares play in the Bundelsiga not only that they’ve gained european experience but they’re also used to the atmosphere in German stadiums.
2-The fact that over a million Iranians live in germany gives Iranian national team a good support (moral support)
