Edson Tavares back to the Tropics!
Depending on which Tehran newspaper you would like to trust more, it looks like another foreign coach has packed up his stuff and left Iran in a hurry.
Yesterday papers reported that Sepahan FC’s Brazilian coach Edson Tavares is back in Brazil to attend his godson’s funeral. A few others have reported that Tavares has left Iran for good. One reported that he has taken all his belongings including his toothbrush with him.
I understand the thing about global economy. I also understand that there are only so many head coaching jobs in each country, but I still can not understand why so many coaches cross oceans to coach in places of which they have no knowledge or understanding.
Don’t get me wrong; I admire these guys and I appreciate the knowledge that many of them bring to the country that employs them, but honestly it is beyond me as to why someone would want to give up tropical whether, beautiful beaches, string bikinis, tropical drinks, and the Carnival to work in far corners of the glob.

I always am sceptical of foreign coaches to our league. They might have knowledge, but like you said they can lack loyalty and some don’t have the strength to put up with the craziness. The solution will be to produce Iranian coaches. I think this will happen over time, especially if our players playing overseas eventually come home to coach.

I agree. Unfortunately for Iranian football, because of economics and perhaps politics this is happening very slowly.
