Nekounam is back in action
February 12th, 2006 | By: Afshin Afshar | No Comments »

Javad Nekounam (Click here for Player Profile) played his first game for his new club Al Sharjah of UAE.
Al Sharjah were defeated 2:1 by reigning champions Al Ain. Both teams, however, made through from Group B, joining Al Wahda and Al Nasr from group A in the last four of the Presiden’s Cup.
Although this is not the best situation for the Iran international, at least he is getting some playing time.
Many Iranian football fans, myself included, believe Nekounam should have taken the Kaiserslautern offer and moved to Bundesliga. Moving to UAE was very short sided move and may hurt him professionally in the long run.
