Not easy to focus on football
It is hard for most of us Iranian football fans to focus on football when every day we hear some new discouraging news about the nuclear issue standoff.
Considering the possibilities, sometimes I wonder if come June I’ll still be writing on this page.
I am one of many fortunate Iranians who have made North America their home, but we all still have cultural and emotional roots in the old country. Regardless of the politics involved, the thought that harm may come to people that I know disturbs me a lot and makes it hard for me to keep a sense of humor about thing, even may favorite topic: football.
But there is no use in trying to anticipate the future at the expense of the present. So I’ll plod on the best I can and hope for the best.

I know it is difficult but football and sport are the great escape. It helps us to think about something other than the sometimes depressing news in the world. My hope is the Team Melli will be a positive force for Iran this summmer. Their success could be a ray of light during the darkest of hours. Keep the faith.
