Rezaei’s Italian Passport Troubles
This may be hard to believe for most of you out there, but Iran national defender Rahman Rezaei is getting some heat from Iranian Football Federation, or some other sources in Iran, for getting Italian passport.
This may be puzzling for many out there because it is really not a big deal. Players from South America for example do this all the time so that they do not count towards the European clubs’ foreign player allotment. Rezaei plays for Messina, and this move makes perfect sense for him.
Obviously these guys in IRIFF does not agree. Rezaei’s status for the World Cup is uncertain. He missed Iran and Costa Rica friendly. Some suggest that this may be related to the passport issue.
