Sepahan FC make history
October 24th, 2007 | By: Afshin Afshar | No Comments »
Sepahan FC of Isfahan became the first ever Iranian side to make it to the AFC Champions League Final since the inception of the new format in 2002. Sepahan tied Al Wahda of UAE and went through thanks to a 3-1 first leg victory in Isfahan.
Sepahan have undoubtedly been the most consistent Iranian side in the last few years. Their Croat coach Luka Bonacic has done a fantastic job with the club in a year and half that he has been in charge.
Their opponents in the final are also new comers Urawa Reds of Japan who also made it through by defeating Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma of Korea Republic.
