Supreme Leader says no to women in stadia!
There was a major blow delivered to Iranian women’s hope to attend sports events. This one came from the very top. Apparently Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader vetoed the president on the matter.

1 step forward, 2 steps back. I robably don’t understand the whole issue behind this, religon usually just gets in the way of things, but come on, women can’t watch an f’ing soccer game? WTF.

When is Iran going to get rid of supreme leader?

let’s be proactive. Spread the word! ANY MEN WHO ATTEND GAMES THAT IRAN PLAYS IN SHOULD WEAR A DRESS AND/OR WIG. It would send a message of support for the masses of Iranian women who struggle for simple rights like attending a sporting event. Plus, in the spirit of the World Cup would be funny and fun.

[...] Earlier today it was announced that Iran’s Supreme Leader has put an end to that silly notion of allowing women attend football matches in his country. Now Iran’s leadership is taking direct aim at footballers who sport an “effeminate look,” including long hair and plucked eyebrows. Did the Supreme leader ever have a mother or was this guy hatched? The absurdity just marches on. Alienating and stifling half the human potential in the country, great move Supreme Leader.

Afshin,
I read on Trinidad and Tobago World Cup Team Blog that there is s Miss World Cup beauty pageants. It’s open to any applicant originally from one of the 32 nations. I found no delegate from Iran signed up yet. I thought if you post it here, more Iranian readers get to see it and there might be someone interested.

I don’t understand why Iranian men don’t support their Iranian sisters by boycotting football games! If men didn’t attend games, it would send a clear message to the clerics that women and men are in it together! If they can boycott parliamentary elections they can boycott a sports game. Is football really that important?!
