The never ending feud
Iranian Football Federation (IRIFF) and the Iranian press have been at each other’s throats for years. At times stories coming out of this feud have been funny, but as we approach the World Cup it is beginning to get worrisome.
The situation has gotten so bad that the federation has dedicated a page on its website to respond to false or inaccurate news and accusations by the press.
These guys are caught up in a vicious circle of rumors, accusations, lies, and confusion, and in the middle of all of this are national team and its coach Branko Ivankovic.
Whether Ivankovic is the right man for the job or not is irrelevant. No coach can be expected to produce results under these circumstances.
Clock is ticking away, Iran does not have any friendly games scheduled, and all these guys can do is to fight each other. I am just about ready to pick Angola to finish third ahead of Iran!
