Afshin Ghotbi’s power move

Afshin Ghotbi made another show of force move this week by dropping Alireza Nikbakht-Vahedi off the 18 man roaster for the upcoming game against Saipa. This come after he dismissed assistant coach Alireza Marzban, and suspended trouble making defender Shays Rezaei.

These moves have been long coming since all the above mentioned individuals have been causing problems and disturbing team chemistry. Some even think that this might be too late and the damage may have already been done. Afshin’s and his team can prove the sceptics wrong if they win the league. However, first on their way are Ali Daei, and his club side Saipa FC of Karaj.

Some may recall that Daei was controversially picked over Ghotbi to lead the National Team. So this match may have more to it than just the obvious three points.
