Who? Arash Borhani?!

Arash Borhani is a 28 year old striker who plays for Esteghlal of Tehran. He is currently leading the Iranian league in scoring with 9 scored goals. Some already suggesting that Team Melli coach Ali Daei show call him up and add some scoring potential to his low scoring front line.

That all sounds good, but the trouble is that Borhani is known to Iranian football fans more for his sometimes fantastic misses than hits!

Borhani came on the Iranian football seen as a speedy young striker with a world of potential. Many thought that he would replace Ali Daei as the top striker in Iran, but wrong they were! Borhani seemed to always find a way to miss. Soon he became the butt of the Iranian football fans’ jokes.

Well, for the sake of the Borhani, Esteghlal FC, Team Melli, and their fans, I hope Borhani’s recently discovered scoring touch is not a fluke, but I just have this inkling!
