Afshin Ghotbi attends the Isfahan derby
Team Melli Head Coach Afshin Ghotbi was in Isfahan yesterday to watch the Isfahan derby. The two Isfahan teams Zob-Ahan and Sepahan are 3rd and 4th respectively after ten rounds with only three points separating them.
Ghotbi’s presence should come as no surprise since the two Isfahan teams are loaded with talent and consistently contribute to the ranks of the national team. What is different about the coach’s attendance is that no other Team Melli coach ever bothered to travel around the country to watch league games. What is more interesting is that IFF Chief Mehdi Taj accompanied Ghotbi on this trip, and that is doubly unprecedented.
The match itself proved to be a bore as the two teams played a goalless draw.
