Karimi watches from the bench as Schalke earn a point

Former Iran international Ali Karimi who recently made a move to Bundesliga side Schalke 04 was on the bench for the match against German leaders Dortmund today.

Thanks to the heroics of Schalke and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer the match ended a goalless draw. It was an exciting match with Dortmund doing most of the attacking. Although Karimi had to watch it all from the sideline, the fact that he was even picked as a reserve speaks loudly of Coach Felix Magath’s assessment of him especially since he had joined the club only a few days ago and had not had more than a couple of workouts under his belt.

Schalke will play Freiburg on Saturday, February 12 and three days later will travel to the Mestalla to face Valencia in the first leg of their Round of 16 Champions League encounter.
