The real problem with Iranian football
Earlier this week Iranian National Broadcasting Agency, and State and the port city of Bandar Abbas reached an agreement on broadcasting the home games of one of the city’s league 1 teams.
That sounds like a routine negotiation until one reads the terms of the agreement. The Bandar Abbas Municipality FC agreed to pay, yes pay, the local broadcasting company (a government agency) 30 million Rials (3,043 US Dollars) for broadcasting each game!
This may sound ridiculously funny, but it is wrong in so many ways.
First, $3043 may not sound much, but majority of lower league clubs in Iran have budgets not exceeding a few tens of thousands of Dollars. Thirteen times $3000 would eat into that budget very quickly.
