WCB Team Member: Afshin Afshar
Hey, my name is Afshin and I am your friendly neighborhood Bloggerman! I actually don’t know much about football, but because Bob Kellett promised me a pair of roundtrip airline tickets to Germany 2006, and free passes to all the
Brazil games, I decided to give it a shot! Bob is gone now, but I am still blogging on.
My goal in life is to one day, when I grow up, write as well as Euler of Brazil Blog, as fast as Trent of Ecuador Blog, and have a writing career that lasts as long as Ali Daei’s football career!! I’ve a blog of my own called lastkick.com on which I practice (almost) everyday.
I live in San Francisco, where the hills are green during the winter and brown in the summer, it is freezing during the month of July, the earth shakes every fifteen minutes or so, and anyone to the right of the far left is considered a right-wing reactionary!
I play football with a bunch of friends most of whom play much better than I do, so I just stand around and try to trip any one within my reach before I get too tired and leave the game with sever leg cramps!
I have high expectations from this World Cup, and I predict that Iran Football Federation (IRIFF) will finally find a head coach around June of 2010 and fire him immediately after the second game of the group stage! That is of course assuming that we will make it that far!!
That’s it! If you have any complaints or grievances about what I write in the Iran World Cup Blog, send it to Daryl. Bob was the one who recruited me, but Daryl decided to keep me around, so he should be held accountable for my awful writing!
Let’s hope for a great World Cup Qualifying round. I can not say ”We’ll see you there” because I have no fate in IRIFF getting its act together and help Team Melli qualify, but if your team qualifies, you make sure to enjoy the Beautiful Game, and I’ll be enjoying it right alongside you in absentia.
