Hi Afshin. Thank you for managing Iran World Cup Weblog. I enjoy it so much, but why you use “Melli Team” ? Don’t you think that a foreigner who reads your weblog, would never get what you mean?!

Hi Negin,

Thank you for your comment and I am glad you like the blog. You should tell all your friends about it! ;)

Regarding your question about “Team Melli”, actually many English speaking news agencies use “Team Melli” as the nickname for Iran’s national football team. So many football fans know what it means.

I also posted an article in response to a reader’s question regarding the meaning of the nickname. You can find that article here:

http://iran.worldcupblog.org/group-d/what-does-%e2%80%9cteam-melli%e2%80%9d-mean.html

I hope I have answered your question.

By the way, I like your blog too (I just visited it). Come and visit again :)

very disappointed of the Iran’s performance in the match against Mexico. In the second half Iran hardly kept the ball for even two consecutive passes, mistakes after mistake without motivation at all neither to make chances and not to play. Positive football means playing to make chances. There was hardly any play in midfield in the second half. Sticking to your own field with 12 men does fro 45 minutes ends up with disadterous results such as what we saw today and a lot in the past. Is there any lesson to be learned or we only can see negative, defensive football from Iran?
