Angola plans to play Korea while Iran remains idle!

February 1st, 2006 | By: Afshin Afshar | 2 Comments »

Angola is scheduled to play a friendly in Seoul against Korea Republic in preparation for this summer’s World Cup where they are in Group D with Iran.

The idea, I guess, is for the Angolans to play an Asian team so they get a feel for what Iran plays like!

I have one thing to say to them, good luck!

These days even we Iranians don’t remember what Iran plays like, let alone the Koreans! I mean when was the last time Iran took the field? I can barely recall.

I doubt if Coach Branko Ivankovic remembers what his team plays like!

The last time I saw Team-Melli play, they looked so awful that I tried to forget all about how they played right away!

I have an advice for Angola; forget about playing teams that may “play like Iran” and go play the best teams with which you can schedule a friendly.

The way it is going, Iran will be one rusty team by the time they get to Germany. The clock is ticking and the federation still has not scheduled minimum of three friendly games for which they had planned.

All is not lost. I saw today that Iran will play Costa Rica in Tehran on March 1. That should help you remember who is on your team.

Hi Bob,

I saw that report too, but I will not believe it until the Costa Rican federation has confirmed it.

Cheers,

Afshin
