Hi. I suppose four teams including Iran, Japan, Australia and Korea are in fact ligible to attend the semifinal games. Notes should be taken here that Thailand is performing very decently nowadays, and Saudi Arabia is again one of the "OLD-HAND" powers in Asia.

Hi Liam,

Being an Iranian you know what I am going to predict, right? :)

I think Iran, Korea Republic, Japan, and Saudi Arabia or Bahrain are good enough to be in the Asian Cup Semifinals. But the chances are they will run into each other before then and that will open up the door for another country to sneak in and do great things.

Japan and Korea Republic have great programs and a lot of talent. I really admire these two Asian countries for the way they have worked hard over the last twenty years to build a solid football foundation.

Iran has all the talent they willever need, but their organization skills stink!

With that in mind, I think Japan and South Korea will field a younger team (not the WC team) to give them experience for the future and will do fine.

Iran will approach this as if it was life or death. Winning is always the main focus with Iranian football, and that at the expense of building for the future.

What are your predictions for the Asian Cup and how do you think the World Cup will effect the teams that are competing in both?
