Not good! What we need is confidence, with nothing lacking. Each foot forward needs to lead to a goal, and the goal is the trophy! Go, Iran, Go!

Caesfinr,

Completely agreed. Iran is an up and comer, a fast, strong and with good technique team; like you said, this match will dictate how Mexico does in the Cup.

I say Mexico 3 - 1 Iran for several reasons:

a) Mexico has a solid defense that has been working together for years.

b) For what I've see of Iran, their defense tends to commit several mental mistakes. Mexico's strategy and pre-designed stopped-ball plays are top-notch, as demonstrated by the Borgetti goal against Holland.

c) Iran reminds somewhat of the 1998 Mexican team. They can create goal opportunities really easily, but they tend to not convert a lot of them.

d) If Oswaldo is there, and it appears he will be (he is flying straight from Guadalajara to Nuremberg), the emotional factor will be on Mexico's side. The team will be fired up.

e) Mexico has been preparing for over two months, the longest of all the participating teams.

f) Experience.

g) The Mexican crowd, despite maybe facing an Iranian majority in Nuremberg, is never to be underestimated.

h) Franco scored six goals in the latest Mexico tune-up. Yes, it came against a Gottingen local team, but the important part is that he may be peaking at the right time. We'll see on Sunday.

i) Mexico has a lot of flexibility in their personnel and strategy. Lavolpe has been exercising a lot of different looks over the past four years.

That's why I see Mexico winning.

No matter what anyones says on this forum Mexico is the favorite to take this group. But as we all know anything can happen in The World Cup as what matters is what happens on the field and not off it. Out of the three teams the team I worry most about is Iran for the immense speed and offensive power. Despite all the mentions of outside factors such as death in the football family and injuries abound, such manners will not be a determinent factor on Sunday's match. Iran will set the standard for how Mexico is to do in the tournament. Angola is still in their innocent stage of development and Portugal time and time again continues to choke and show a poor display of competitiveness when it matters. I expect Mexico to take home a victory but if they were to draw or lose to Iran I would not be shocked.

Hi all,

Im Luis from Mexico. I will be on Sunday going to the match in Nürnberg. First of all I respect a lot the Iranian team and my respect goes to all their people. I just hope that we enjoy a nice game and that the best one win. I feel bad for Tarkaba comming here to heat up things that shouldnt need to be like that. Lets enjoy and let the best one win if it is Mexico I will be very happy but if it is Iran I will accept it and clap their victory :) I hope That both Iran and Mexico make it to the next round.

Cheers to all the Iranian people!

Saludos
Luis
