You know, I want to talk about the US national team! I know this is the Iran weblog, but I’ve got the pen so I am going to write about US! It’s not like Bob is going to fire me or something! ;)

Thanks to my new DVR box, I managed to record the US vs. Germany friendly and watched it tonight. Most fans around the world are going to see the 4:1 result and chuckle at it, but not me.

It amazes me how far the US team has come over the last couple of decades. Most of you remember as far back as Tony Meola, Eric Wynalda, and Tab Ramos. I am talking about the time when Rick Davis was the captaining the US!

Most of you recall the 2002 performance against Germany as the turning point in US soccer. To me it was the 3:0 1995 Copa America victory over Argentina. Since then, not counting 1998 World Cup, US has been climbing up the football world’s ladder.

Before this generation of US footballers retires, they will make their mark. It may not be in this World Cup, but they will make their mark before they go.
