Hire me a few competent football people please!
Before you read on I must warn you that this is written by a very frustrated and angry football fan! I am so angry that I am thinking about boycotting all the Iran national team matches until after the World Cup, although between you and me that will happen only when hell freezes over!
Let me explain what has infuriated me so much.
Many of you have heard about the now cancelled Iran vs. Ukraine friendly. Weeks ago, the Iranian Football Federation (IRIFF) announced that the two federations had agreed to meet on March 1 in Tehran. A couple of weeks later news started leaking out that Ukraine may cancel the game, and they eventually did.
Then a few days ago the spokesman for the Iranian Football Federation told reporters that there had never been an official agreement signed between the two countries. In other words, nothing was put on paper, and since it was all a verbal agreement the Ukrainians are not obligated to comply!
What?! No official agreement?!
He then continued to blame the entire embarrassing episode on “those in the federation who are anxious to get their names published in newspapers!”
I want to know who the incompetent imbecile who announced it as a done deal was. And I also want to know why the federation didn’t correct the mistake as soon as it was announced.
The answer is very simple; the incompetent imbeciles are very high up in the federation, and that is precisely the fact that has infuriates me to no end.
Here is arguably the most talented team that Iran has ever produced, and it is being completely mishandled and mismanaged. What a shame!

You are not the only fan of Iran that is upset with all this. The federation is a joke and should be ashamed of itself for not being able to schedule friendlies. In the end it is the team that is going to be hurt by all this.
But don’t give up hope, my friend. We need all the support we can get. Support the players, not the federation.

[...] Red Card: Iran has one of the strongest, most talented teams in its history. Unfortunately the boneheads in charge of its football federation are doing their best to undermine the team’s chances in Germany. Not only did the federation fail to lock in an agreement for a friendly with Ukraine, but it has also been unable to come up with any opposition to adequately prepare the team for the World Cup. At this point, Sisters of the Mercy won’t even play Iran. Which is too bad, because the Sisters have got game! [...]
