Iran and Costa Rica friendly under the gun
February 26th, 2006 | By: Afshin Afshar | No Comments »
All indications from Iran are that the friendly with Costa Rica will be played on schedule on March 1. However, there are other signs indicating that it might not be as easy. A Costa Rican lawmaker has asked the football federation chief to cancel the match. The federation chief has refused so far, but editorials in Costa Ricans newspapers have turned up the heat. With three days left everything is still up in the air.
Let’s hope that Costa Rican football federation will prevail and keep their stance on separating football from politics so that the game can go on as scheduled.
