Iran moves up three spots in FIFA ranking

March 15th, 2006 | By: Afshin Afshar | 2 Comments »

Iran moved up three spots to nineteenth in FIFA’s March ranking. I think this is rubbish!

Don’t get me wrong, I will use this as a trash talking ammo any day of the week, but USA. Egypt, Iran, and Japan ranked higher than Germany?!

When was the last time any of these four defeated Germany in a competitive match? Besides, sticking with Iran, how can they rank Iran when Team Melli plays a game, oh….. in every about six months?

Well, anyhow, If it works for Sepp it works for me.

We are now officially ranked higher than Germany folks!

Even though Iran stands in a very respected spot, the FIFA ranking is unrealistic and meaningless, I understand the system yet I see that some teams are in places that they truly don’t deserve.

The FIFA ranking is completely useless and I think it shouldnt be allowed to rank countries that way. Many top european countries are below the top ten list which is not realistic at all. I hope people who are not that familiar with soccer understand that and will ignore this list ranking when talking about soccer. Maybe one day the FA will make a notice/disclaimer that explains how this rakning is measured and why its not representetive.
