Our friend Kia posted the comment below in the comment section. I thought it was interesting, so I am posting it here for everyone to see.

Thank you Kia.

====

Just read the newspapers in Iran!

Iran Varzeshi
Khabar Varzeshi
Khabar Varzeshi
Khabar Varzeshi
Alborz
Keyhan Varzeshi

Threre are a lot more!

Also, this artile is a must read story from one of the admins in persianfootball.com. This really talks about the problems..

I agree with Navid! We have to change this culture. I see Asians, Africans, Europeans, South Americans.. EVERYONE have each other’s backs except us! this is messed up. We all Iranians should learn this lesson and support each other, otherwise, we’ll still be dealing with the same crap in 2010 and beyond!

Interesting,but worthless.I would’nt spend a gheroon to buy their stories….
We should support any act that bring the team together, and remind all players to know their limit in which they are popular for…

From what’s in Iran Varzeshi, Karimi was mad that he was taken out of portugal game. But then, he was not playing good! Either for injury or whatever else he was not doing good! So why would he be so angry to be substituted! If he was not really injured he sould have put all other matter behind him for duration of the game and played his best. I’m not sure that was the case yesterday.

Good points kia. Who knows what is going on behind the scene. What we see is only the final product on the field.

But, we should not get too caught up in this. We had a good time for months leading to the WC, and we knew it was not easy to go through. So let’s just take it all for what it was, a lot fun.

I know Afshin! I just hope we can see the performace that we have been waiting for and anticipated for months in the last remaining game. If somebody is injured nothing can be done about it. But if it’s politics, lets hope all that goes aside for this final show and lets hope we see our Team Melli playing their full potential, they way it was meant to be.

Hashemian also says there were “no differences” in the team:

http://www.persianfootball.com/pfdcnews20060618022478394131.htm

Mahdavikia says the team tried their best in vain. He sounds so disappointed just like many of us. I don’t blame him, because I do really think he put a lot of energy into the game yesterday.

Interestingly enough, Zandi is the only one who complains about the coach!

we can not deny that there were internal problems but also i should mention these stories are not totaly accurate.
these are what we suffered before in any competition
that had a great influence to “teammelli”’s performance .
lack of “chimestry” in our team work is what we suffred through whole history, and guess someday who owns the time will change it!!!

For the third game, I am officially pulling for Angola to beat Iran. Iran until now has been a source of disappointment to me and those who like to see football played as it should be. Angolans provide that, they provide good, clean, and entertaining football. Should they beat Iran by 2 or 3 goals, and I hope they do, They have a good chance of going to the second round, if Mexico loses to Portugal by 2.
So here is my chant for Wednesday game:
Doo do roo Do ro ANGOLA

Alighooli, Khaktoosaret for that worthless comment!! Khastee zer bezani????

I too am disappointed that we lost—I agree that they should have played better—but to say that you are going to cheer against Iran—makes me sick—you can say that may the best team win—but to go as far as to cheer against OUR IRAN—you represent the culture we have to change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope Iran plays well against Angola—and if they are victorious—I will think of this post

I hate fake-irani’s

Peeshee,

Pee Shee,

Pee Sheee,

Movazeb bash moosh toro nakhoreh.

I am an Iranian too, I am proud of my Irnian heritage, but I will not pull for Iran’s football just because a bunch of players pretent to play the game in my colors. If the real Iranian team that was promissed to us and we expected had showed and had two losses with pride (see Ivory Coast games) I would have cheered them on their third loss as well. Now clean up your language, get some manners, and respect your elders.

Iran sport magazines (if you could call them that) are well known for making up “news” and interviews. They are experts at tear others apart and they never make any positive contribution.

One of the links above had a quote from Portugal’s coach saying that if 3 players in Iran’s team were replaced they would become a very strong team. A professional coach at Scolari’s caliber would never make such a comment about an opposing team. The only purpose for printing a fabricated “news” item like this one is just to create division within the team.

Most of the sports magazines in Iran are not worth the paper they are printed on. So just ignore them, stop fighting amongst ourselves and support our team and our players.

I noticed that Scolari’s quote!!! It seems wiered to me too! But I still think there must be some truth to all this. I am not really surprised either! This type of thing has always been there, it could very well still be there!

Peeshee and Alighooli jun,

We are all disappointed with Team Melli’s performance, but let’s not get on a bad note with each other because of that.

We all know no matter how disppointed we are, come Asian Cup in a few months, it will be “Deja vu all over again”!

:)

You are right Kia. But every team has problems and players in all teams have differences because they are human and have their own opinions and agenda. A lot of the players sitting on the bench want to play so that they can get the big contracts. In teams with big stars it’s even worse because of the huge egos.

The job of the media is to analyze and even criticize constructively and provide helpful suggestions. But that does not justify making up quotes and interviews and news. That only fuels the fire and makes things worse by pitting players against each other and the coach. They should help make the team stronger, not undermine it in the middle of the tournament and at a point when it’s too late to make any major changes.

Rashir and Kia,

I saw that too, but I did not see any additional piece of information on it.

I want to know who the Portugese translator for this article was. If his Portugese is as good as my English, you can bet your bottom dollar that it was a chicky mistake! (eshtebAheh loppi!!) :)
