Zandi’s out, but don’t panic!

Midfielder Fereydoon Zandi has been cross off of the Team Melli squad for the Mexico game on Sunday due to an injury sustained in the friendly game against Croatia on Sunday, May 28..

Zandi’s loss is a blow to Team Melli; no doubt about it. But it has less of an impact than most may think. The rise of the young midfielder Mehrzad Madanchi, who will probably start for Zandi, has given Coach Branko Ivankovic an attractive option.

Zandi may be ready to go against Portugal on Wednesday.
