Iranian defender Sattar Zare who had a knee injury in yesterday's training, is seen at the balcony of his room in a hotel in Schnetzenhausen northwest of Friedrichshafen, 09 June 2006. Iran has been dealt a serious blow with two players looking set to miss the crucial opening clash with Mexico through injury and sickness. Left back Sattar Zare was carried from the training field after twisting a right knee while midfielder Ferydoon Zandi is still recovering from a fever. The injured defender may be forced to miss the World Cup entirely. Coach Ivankovic suggested that they may ask FIFA to replace Zare.

“We have made the contacts with officials because there is the 24-hour rule and so if Zare cannot play then we are allowed to call up Shakoury”, said Ivankovic.
