Iran lose to Mexico
Okay, so we lost.
Let’s congratulate Mexico. They were the better team today, and they deserved the win.

Hi!
Mexico won because they are a better team than Iran. Simply as that. If Iran did some mistakes, it was because mexican players were pressing to the goalkeeper and defenders. Check it and you will note it.
In this first round, Argentina had troubles to win; Neatherlands tied and Germany received two goals, all againts “small teams”.
Iran played very well. Mexico had troubles to win. At least, Mexico was better.

Are you guys going to be sports and congratulate me on my accurate, right on the spot trashtalking?
Good game guys, you have a good team.
Mexico 3 - Iran 1

Cyrus i suggest you get your head outa your ass boy. You’ve been living in the UK for too long now, pom. Iran were totally sportsmanlike, they presented oswaldo sanchez with flowers before the game and even gave the mexicans a present before the game (to which we recieved a contingency “present”). Playing physical football is a strategy. What kinda bull**** is it to say im glad mexico won?! Ive had it with you iranian-bashing traitors.

I cant believe all the people shit talking branko, he is the reason we got here to start with. Let’s remember something, they are a better team then us. i hate how everybody starts pointing fingers everytime we lose a match. Mexicans defeated brazil not too long ago, so its not much of a surprise if they beat us! We were like 4 to 1 underdogs, it wouldve been nice had we won, but its no big surprise that we didnt.

Ali Daei Out Petition (sign)

amirali,
Yesterday Mexico did not play as a “Brazil winning” team. We could have easily won them if we kept our strategy the same as 1st half. That is if we would have played an attacking game. It was obvious this was no accient (And it was Daei’s fault either). Ivankovic must of directed the team to play defensively. One thing that he has accomplished is that the team follow his instructions. He might not be the worst coach ever for Iran, but his decision yesterday costed us the game and probably the second round. More importantly, if he continues this metntality we would lose all our games. Even to Angola. Once more, did you watch Angola vs. Portugal?! We would lose if we play like we did with Mexico.

In previous commnet, I meant to say it was “not” Daei’s fault either!

Ali,
The petition is completely unnecessary and untimely!!! We have all discussed the fact that Daei was too old and not on the best shape to be included in 2006 squad. However, that decision is made and now is not the time to dispute it. Removing him now will only hurt the Team morals. And he was not the reason we have lost anyway. Even if he is not making a difference.

No matter what anyone says, it was more than just a game…the difference between the 1st half and 2nd half is monsterious. Whatever happend during half time , someone told them to play differently and everyone knows it. Its not the players faults, they were amazing in the beginning.

tarkaba:It was really funny to see that you and I had the same prediction. I wanted to change it so i could be the only one, but i really thought they would score 3-1.
so CONGRATULATIONS.
To all you iran fans.
WOW, i thought the mexiccan fans were rough on a team when they lost. I don’t understand, you all had such high expectations for your team. In fact the only reason i had any doubt in MEX was because i kept reading this blog. I said to ny self. Maybe i just don’t know the team well enough. Well it really gave me some trouble before the match.
The score says it all. I feel that it would have been a better match if you didn’t go into that defensive formation.
you should never hope for a TIE when you have 45 minutes to play.
Overall , i think you guys are really harsh on your team. It was the first match. smoe players were hurt, and the only reson that we scored the last two was defensive mistakes. I think that you guys have the opportunity to beat portugal. they did not seem that impressive. Now it will come down to you defense.
prediction
iran 1 portugal 1

It has nothing to do with the way our players were playing…o I forgot some were “injured” okay!…

Anybody notice the crowd booing our team at some points throughout the match? what was that all about? i was very insulted. Also, the commentator was making some harsh remarks that was pissin me off, was that just me?

MESSAGE TO IRANIAN SOCCER TEAM: BE CONFIDENT, FOCUSED & PASSIONATE AND YOU WILL WIN
Iranian Soccer team has a great potential to win their next two games. They should follow the following guidlines to become victorious:
1. Keep your heads up. Learn from your mistakes from your earlier match.
2. Try not to make serious errors in future games
3. Stay focused and play with passion
4. Sleep early before the matches (sleep and performance are directly related)
5. Do not get intimidated (avoid red and yellow cards)
6. Be extremely competative but gracious
7. Don’t GIVE UP even in the worst situations (e.g when you are trailing by a goal or two.) Remember, scoring a goal does not take too much time so NEVER NEVER give up.
8. To Iranian fans: Please avoid negative criticism and support your team 100%. To reach to the world cup is already a success.
9. STUDY YOUR OPPONENTS THOROUGHLY & DEVISE A MATCH STRATEGY IN ADVANCE BUT BE FLEXIBLE AND ACT WHAT THE SITUATION DEMANDS.
10 You are getting two more chances to prove that you are a great team. Stand up to the occasion and amaze the world. TRY YOUR BEST & SUCCESS WILL FOLLOW.
GOOOOOOOD LUCK

We will lose to Portugal because we are going to be playing a defensive game.

Okay here it is plain and simple! Two teams! there has to be a draw or a Winner! One lost One won. Mexico won and Iran didn’t. It’s only obious Mexico wanted it more than Iran. Iran is a good team who made mistakes and Mexico took advantage.
Next time Iran should try not to make more mistakes. NO hard feelings. Mexico respects Iran and their fans should be proud for their participation.

Jordan made some comments that i think ring true. Something happened during half time. I was watching iranian TV in australia and a few fans called the show from germany. they were at the game and they said that apparently iran bought over 10,000 tickets and dispensed it to mexicans. also apparently msg came in during half time that they not win the game. ali diea enforced the msg to his players and apparently it caused a lot of conflict between them. It answers alot of question of WHY the hell they played like that during the second half.

We would have won the game if we played the second half the way we did the first one.
Blah, blah, blah.
Do you people realize that Mexico’s substitutions at halftime were intendend to stop allowing Iran to play like they did in the first hald? The problem is that your coach’s responses to our subs never worked. If you ask any knowledgeable fan, that’s a big issue if you want to win in such a short tournament.
In short, you were out-smarted.

http://daneshjoo.org/publishers/currentnews/article_6295.shtml
before you guys go bad-mouthing iran and blaming their plays and saying that mexico is the better team, why don’t you read that article?
why don’t you actually LEARN some iranian history?
the government doesnt WANT their team to win because if they win, then the people can have a reason to celebrate in the streets –> protests
then they can’t arrest them b/c they use the excuse of “celebration”
if you HONESTLY think that mexico was going to win, than i suggest you rewatch the game. i think someone beatifully phrased it as “iran played first and second half like night and day.”
its obvious that a different team came out, watch the players and the coaches crestfallen face during 2nd half
no one would ever play the second half on defense only, someone else phrased it as “if its not broke, don’t fix it”
trust me, something HAPPNED in that lockerroom during the halftime.

Did you guys watched MEX-ANG game? What a superb performance from ANG. They were one man down and still defended the attcaks form the world’s most favorite team. In my heart they are already champs. Iranian team should take notice of MEX-ANG game.
