One more match and then the light’s out!

Iranian fans shout slogans prior to the Portugal v Iran (AP Photo/Michael Probst)

Hi guys,

Our journey is almost over. We have followed our team for most of the last four years.

For the first time in decades, we qualified for the World Cup with relative ease. Maybe that was why our hopes were raised to unrealistic heights. Anyway, I don’t want to talk about what could have or should have happened. I rather talk about what did happen.

We made it to the biggest stage that the game has to offer. Along the way we were treated to many exciting matches like the 2:1 victory over Japan in Azadi, and the 2:0 victory over Jordan on their home field.

We followed our heroes’ performance for their clubs, we read every piece of news we could get our hands on, and visited as many websites as we could in the hope of reading even more news.

We could not wait to hear the result of the final draw. I myself followed it on the Internet and jumped with joy that we were not grouped against Argentina, Brazil, Germany, or England.

When here, we made many friends.

Remember it is all about the journey and not the destination, and we had a great journey.

Let’s enjoy our last game tomorrow, enjoy the rest of this wonderful World Cup, and immediately after start getting ready for Asian Cup 2007.

Hi, I’m from Yazd,Iran. I say our biggest problem is Branco. Cause he isn’t a coach. He is just like a viewer. He can’t do anything and I’m very happy that he is going to his country after the world cup. And of course these should not have been invited : Ali Daei. Mirzapoor. Nosrati ( but he played well in world cup ). Golmahammadi cause first and second goal of Mexico was his fault. Good Luck. I hope Iran lose the match with Angola, too.

Also, we CAN stil qualify for the second round. All we have do to do is to plant some drugs at Team Mexico’s base camp, then while inject some steroids into omar bravo when he’s not looking and KESTANG! Second round, here we come!

Have to say guys, this team has played the worse games I’ve seen yet. No team work, and even individually not much skill to brag about. Big disappointment. Why it is we can never play as a team? So many Iranians have good football skill, much better than Europeans, yet we can’t deliver as a team! Any way, I’m supporting Angola… (ok just kidding)!

I wished Team Melli to lose! Sorry to say that but sometimes it is necessary, it could be a wake up call!
I am glad it was Zandi who scored for us.

hmm it wasn’t Zandi who scored! It was our defender BAKHTIARIZADEH! Same position as Golmohammadi!! so I guess in the Asian cup, Iran perhaps should more our defence forward?? lol. But, I give it to you, Zandi was very good today.

Live Blog of Iran-Angola says Ferydoon Zandi scored for Iran. BBC says Sohrab Bakhtiyarizadeh! I take BBC more serious!
