Team Melli fans’ frustrations

Frustrated

Our friend farzaneh asks in one of her comments:

Why is it that on every other country’s board everyone is supporting their home country, except for Iran? Come on guys, show some support for our team. They may not be the best in the world, but they’re good enough to have made in the cup.

She is right; we MUST support Team Melli unconditionally. At this point this is the least we can and must do.

I understand and agree with her point, but I also understand and share others’ frustration of many of the other fans.

We all love Team Melli, and hate to see them underachieve because of Bad Management and bad coaching.

For the last three months we have been saying that Ivankovic should give younger players some playing time just in case they need to play. Well, guess what, they have to play because of all the injuries but they are not in synch with the team because they did not get enough playing time with the main squad.

Ali Daei has been way past his prime, but he has gotten 90 minutes of playing time in almost EVERY friendly match we played before the World Cup, while better and younger strikers were seating on the bench doing nothing.

We have been saying that IRIFF should schedule more friendly games to prepare the team. But we had only three in 2006 compared to Mexico and Portugal’s 8 or 9. Even T & T had more friendly games than us!

We didn’t have to play great teams. Look at what Brazil did. They played small nations and sometimes unknown club teams, but that gave them a chance to fine tune.

So, we all MUST give our team our unconditional support against Portugal and Angola, but we should not forget about these problems or we will be doomed to repeat them.

Told you guys Mexico’s advancement is not definitive. This is a very undecided group still. We have a great team, we just have to not give away so many free kicks this time.

Final score for Mexico-Angola game is 0-0. This is good news for Iran. Let’s hope Iran plays well against Portugal and get a draw or win and give us some hope for getting to the group of 16.

Go IRAN!!! Go Team Melli!!!

Angola showed that mexico could never scored against iran if we did not gifted a goal to them. I hope that there would be no such mistakes in next game.

Payam, We might actually play with 11 players this time since Daei is out! ;) oh ok enough dashing on that poor man. But YES we HAVE to fight for 90+ minutes and if we do that, trust me, Iran can make ‘em CRY!

Farzaneh jan we all support Team Melli and all wish their success, but we should be allowed to criticise them. We expect a lot from them, we believe in them; this is why we are so bitter when we lose.
