Daei did not ask for help – Says Erich Rotte Muller
German coach Erich Rotte Muller who served as Ali Daei’s consultant while Daei was in charge of Team Melli had an interesting interview with reporters this week.
Rotte Muller was asked what he thought prevented Team Melli from qualifying for the World Cup. His response, as published in the article, seems to be very honest. He lists a number of reasons including Coach Ali Daei’s inexperience and his lack of willingness to reach out for help. He also blames himself for not pushing his opinions and ideas.
Rotte Muller claims that he waited for Daei to reach out to him and when that did not happen he did not go out if his way to convince Daei.
The German coach thinks Daei has all the makings of becoming a great coach, but he also thinks that the Team Melli job came too soon, and Daei was simply not experienced enough.
