Rothemoller joins Team Melli staff
It appears that Erich Rothemoller has finally reached an agreement with the Iranian Football Federation to serve as one of Ali Daei’s assistants.
According to Rothemoller the possibility of him joining Team Melli’s coaching staff was discussed about ten months ago, but he was then under contract with FIFA until the end of 2008; however, he let Daei and other Iranian officials know that he would be interested in discussing possibilities after the terms of his contract with FIFA were completed.
Rothemoller told reporters that when he worked under Rudy Voller for the German National Team, he was responsible for various aspects of planning and organization for practices and matches, and under Daei he would function as the technical assistant and consultant.
Rothemoller is a welcome addition to Daei’s undermanned coaching staff that lacks strong technical expertise and experience.
