Team Melli defeat Qatar in Doha friendly

Team Melli defeated Qatar in their only scheduled friendly before their World Cup qualifier against UAE on November 19.

The match, which was played in Doha, ended scoreless in the first half, but Gholamreza Rezaei scored the winner in 76th minute.

Perspolis FC Captain Karim Bagheri played his first game for the national team in over six years. The 35 year old, who had the captian’s armband on, played the entire match.

Coach Ali Daei used the opportunity to take a look at a few of the newer faces including Maysam Baou and Ahmad Alenemeh.

The team will return to Tehran to prepare for the November 19 qualifier against UAE in Abu Dhabi.
